Lovely pic and subject.

as another option, if u live close, go back with a tripod, and aim for a max shutter time open ( i.e. ISO 100, close the lens to f22 or higher (A selection )........... the end result will be that the water coming off the fall will look like fairy floss, really soft. If taken in lower light i.e. morning or before sunset, you can get some really nice mystical effects.

I second that suggestion!

Waterfalls are fun to photograph.

Try with a very fast shutter speed, +250th

and then again down at 30th or less - a tripod may help here as Skippy suggests,

and see the difference.

Nicely framed and exposed, all the same.

Yeah I tried to do that milky flow effect in another shot on a waterfall in the same area back then and it came out way over exposed so that the water was very glarey.

I will try with your suggestions next time.

Unfortunately I do not live near it, this was taken on a long trip around los 2 years ago now.

If at mid day, will be more difficult as too much sun. As the sun sets /dusk, lower light , you get nice shadows, and need to open shutter longer to do a full exposure. If ur on digital, can bracket the shots ( 50 shots - no problem ).

The problem is that dawn and dusk are gone so quickly in the tropics. :o

Nah, u'd get a good 1/2 hour to hour. If u cant fill up a few rolls / click off enough shots in that time, time to trade in ur gear :D
