yes i was under the same impression however i keep on reading on the thai visa forum how some expats keep on talking about the land they have purchased.

Yes, and the land is usually bought in their Thai Wifes name.

not all of them have thai wives. there's the "company way" where one establishes a company which owns the land and the farang owns the building. whether to go that way is a personal decision. the faint hearted listen to those who will tell you that any day from now the thai government will expropriate you and throw you for years chained in a dungeon before you are castrated and deported. others enjoy their homes very much built on land "illegally" acquired by a shelf company.

there must be at least a dozen threads "Farang and Land" in TV-Forum where you can find a zillion of opinions. but we all know that opinions are like @ssholes. everybody got one.
