Kinrara
Hi Arriving at Southern Bus Station from Phuket 7am Sat morning, please can anyone advise me the cheapest way to get to Bangkok city centre ie bus etc, plus any details of reasonable accommodation near a Skytrain station, so that we can have easy access for sightseeing etc without having to rely on taxis. Many thanks
londonthai
take bus 516 (you have to walk over on the other side of the road) to khaosan rd - a lot of guest houses and hotels. banglampoo is next to the rattanakosin (the old town), with all the major tourists attractions as well as the express boats on the river. if there are several people in the group it's cheaper to take a taxi than skytrain and than motorbike - taxis are much cheaper than phuket. I have a holiday house 5 minutes to the southern bus terminal - 10 minutes/85 baht to rattanakosin Edited January 22, 2008 by londonthai
burman
But you should know Khao San is not near a skytrain station. Good place to hang around and meet people though. Letting people know your budget for a room might help. Edited January 22, 2008 by burman
ChangMaiSausage
As burman pointed out it all depends on your budget I like to stay in the Honey Hotel Soi 19 just off Sukhumvit Road you have access to the Skytrain (Asoke) + the underground.
