Hello all, great to find a forum with so much helpful information, keep up the good work!!!

Im currently about to start the process for my thai girlfriend to visit me here in uk on a tourist visa,we have all the emails, photos, hotel reciepts, flight tickets etc etc and are happy that we have enough information, the only downside are my funds, not a great amount of savings but more than enough to support the trip....so the question being can i add another sponsor like my father who is now retired and has had many year running the family business and can show substantial savings??

also,If the tourist visa is granted and we are both in the uk can we then take a holiday to visit my sister who lives in the Channel Islands, Jersey??

thanks

There's no harm in you presenting yourself as a sponsor and adding that if your income is deemed insufficient, your father will help out. However, he will need to provide evidence of his ability to assist should the need arise. 3rd party sponsors are still allowed in relation to visit visa applications.

Jersey is part of the Common Travel Area, but I'd have to research whether your girlfriend would require a separate visa for visiting there. Alternatively, call Jersey immigration on 01534 448000 (I'd be interested in their answer).

Hi scouse just to let you know my answer to the jersey question

Providing that your girlfriend is lawfully in the UK and will be travelling within the validity of her immigration permission, she will not require a separate visa to travel to Jersey. As there are no border controls between Jersey and the UK, she will not be required to present herself to an immigration officer on arrival in the Island.

In light of increased security measures at British ports of entry, we would advise all members of the travelling public to carry a form of photographic ID. In the absence of such documents, it may be prudent for her to carry a letter from the Home Office confirming her status in the UK. It is also worth noting that many domestic airlines now require passengers to present photographic ID at check-in. May we suggest that you contact the airline directly to find out their requirements.
