The beauty of being in the right place, and with the right equipment..........

Most of us could only dream of a 600mm prime. :o

A little more elevation would have helped the shot.

Advantageous position and equipment came courtesy of the job. :o

Usually about 50 of us clamoring around the finish line - you grab what you can in those circumstances. If I'd have stood up I'd have been murdered! :D

How did you manage to shoot this without the ugly reflection of strobe light on the shiny metallic body of the F1 car?

Fitted flashgun with Metz diffuser, Stofen diffuser AND 2 strips of black stocking material (15 denier I think) taped over it. This set-up "spreads" the light and the black netting takes the glare out of it. Obviously a lot of experimenting to establish the exposure, but I seem to remember about +3 stops. Metz 60 CT more than capable of handling this.

The wife always moaning about the loss of her tights, but that's another story! :o
