My 250 GB HDD is partitioned into two. C: (50 GB) and D: (200 GB). I just emptied my D: drive and would like to know if it is possible to allocate 50 GB more to C: from D: without reformatting the entire HDD and having to re-install all the programs. I would like to have the HDD as C: (100 GB) and D: (150 GB).

Cheers!

Best program for to do that is Acronis Disk Director (Payware) but you can use Partition Magic as well. Google for Partition Manager Software and you might find Freeware as well.

Cheers.

If running Vista you can actually do a live re-partitioning and add space to your C drive without the use of third party partition tools.

That's right but I wouldn't suggest that one because is easy to face problems, ther a lot reports around because of problems occours while using the live repartitioning.

Cheers.

Partition Magic for a commercial product.

PartED for a free software utility - but you need to make a cd and boot from it - from memory.

Thanks all for your replies. I was just wondering.... would it also be possible to boot from a windows XP CD and delete the D: partition, then re-allocate the space?

Be aware that there can be issues with using Partition Magic etc. From recent experience and some investigation, I'm 99% sure you'll need to use the same partitioner (e.g. Partition Magic) next time you want to alter/delete the partitions you set up with it. At least with XP Pro, it seems that the system partitioner will not handle a PM-created partition properly.
