Harder marriage visa requirements from july, 2004

Featured Replies

More news from the boys in brown:

We have just got information that the Immigration Bureau will require 400,000 Baht in the bank for a foreigner married to a Thai to get a yearly extension of a Non-Immigrant "O" visa.

Unconfirmed news, but I believe this will be effective from July, 2004.

Will keep you posted.

The visa fee hike is on Aug 26, 2003. The changed money requirements is from July, 2004 if I understand it correctly.

My extension expires on the 26 of june next year lucky me if i can still use the 250 k rules.

maybe i get an non b instead easier to extend and with work permit of course.

The 400,000 is annual income or a combination of annual income plus any bank savings ... same as with the 800,000 currently for retirement, correct?
The 400,000 should not be a problem as most people will prabably spend close to that in a yr anyway. I hope everyone knows that you can use these monies during the year.
Do not use it during the review period however as if they call bank and requirements are not met you will not get the extension until they are from what I have seen posted.
