Yes, you can turn the 32-bit SKUs of Windows Vista into the 64-bit editions of the operating system. But it will cost you... Windows Ultimate actually comes with 2 DVD's, both the 32 and 64 bit versions of the OS. Here the swap is easy, I first installed the 64 bit version, later I decided to swap and install the 32 bit version, and to my recollection, the activation went through successfully.
