My 17-year old twin boys will be working and going to school in Udon Thani. I want to rent a furnished room for them. Can anyone recommend any apartment buildings / mansions?

Thanks for your help.

Not sure if this response is a bit late or not ?

I went to Udon to study thai at AUA in Udon.

I stayed at Top Mansion which is just 5 minutes walk

to the big Charoensri Shopping Complex. It was

about 8,700 baht for a month, which included everything.

Daily maid service, electricity, cable Tv, hot water etc.

Room was very nice and always clean, staff friendly

and helpful. I would recommend this place if it fits your

budget ? There were cheaper places, but for the location

and everything else I thought it was good value...ie less than 300

baht per night.

Top Mansion is that bad, is it?

It looks like a decent enough place on udon maps but I admit I've never seen the place in person.

Since I'll be renting something for 6-12 months in town and the teelack (non bargirl) will be there alone half of that time I don't need any working girls running in and out of the place giving her any ideas on a side job.......

She has a friend who graduated from university in Udon who has volunteered to assist in the search. She might be a better source of information than anyone I would guess?

No, It isn't "That" bad (It's not like Nana Hotel in BKK), but there will be quite a few BG's spending the night there on a regular basis, and as it is a cheap clean hotel, it does get used by a lot of "single" guys, who are on the lookout for some holiday fun. It's not the type of environment that I think you would want your twins/girlfriend to be staying in. Sounds like a good idea to get her friends help, and then maybe you can check back here later. Hope all goes well for you.

This place might be more appropriate: http://www.jancondotel.com/en/index-en.html

Probably, the best idea, would be to come to Udon and check out the various apartment buildings.

There is a lot of them.

Thank you for your input gentlemen.

We've set aside a few days to do that very thing the last week of May.

Last time we were in Udon we really hadn't decided yet so we didn't look around with that in mind.

Good to hear there is an ample supply of housing.

Some place like Jan Condotel sounds great to me but I suspect I will end up somewhere a little more "thai" than that. She's a frugal little thing (bless her heart!) and will likely fuss if I choose to spend that kind of money. As long as the doors and locks are solid and they keep the common areas clean she'll be happy.

I'll report back!

I said I would report back.

Found a very nice sized aircon studio in a well maintained building south of Prosi Rd for 3,900 baht per month + electric. It has adsl (500 per month additional) and a safe, protected area for her to store her moto.

I agree with the posters who mentioned there is an ample supply of rentals to be found in Udon Thani.

After walking the area north of the bus station I concluded it might not be the best environment for persons interested in a long term relationship.

It's early yet but I think we will be happy there.

Take a look at AEK Udon hospital while you are in the area, nothing to loose.

Comparable rates and good security with ample space for parking last time i looked it over for someone.
