Bring Thai Wife To America With Tourist Visa?

Featured Replies

I adore my little lovely Thai wife from Petchabun. She lives with me here in Kobe, Japan now as a spouse of a permananent resident (me). I have been living here in Japan for 9 years now and am fed up with it and want to relocate to Thailand or America. I am American.

I was wondering if I could simply bring her to America on a tourist Visa, and then once we're there apply for the green card.

Is it possible?

Thanks

Ryan

I would think not. If you tried, she might get tagged with visa fraud and deported and banned. People will do this with a girlfriend. Have them come on a tourist visa, then get married and adjust status. But if you are already married, and she comes in on a tourist visa, it would look even more like she planned to immigrate.

Best to go the Direct Consular Filing (DCF) I-130 route. Check with the US embassy in Japan (actually the Dept. Homeland Security).
