Dear Forum

Married my wife here in the UK but she is going back to BKK to apply for the spouse visa. She needs a new passpost (expires in July, already expended). And she needs to go up north to change her ID card to her new surname first.

She will then need to come back to BKK with new ID card, get new passport in BKK and then put in her spouse visa application. Is this the correct process or can it be all done in BKK.

Any of you guys had a similar experience b4.

Cheers

There is no legal requirement for her to change her surname either in Thailand or UK so she could simply apply for a new passport (takes 3 days) in Bangkok and apply for her settlement visa in the same name as the passport.

If she wants to change her name in her new passport she will have to change the ID card first. She can apply for a Thai passport at any passport office in Thailand but will have to submit the application for a settlement visa in person in Bangkok.
