I understand that as evidence for my Thai girlfriend's visiting visa to the UK I need to show I have a place for her to stay. We have only just moved into a new property and apparently it may take time for the house deeds to be drawn up and I need to get the visa application processed asap.

Are the house deeds the only accepted evidence for ownership as far as the visa app is concerned? or will anything else be sufficient such as utility bills or a council tax bill? I will write a letter as I am the sponser and also my father will write a letter of invitation as he is the owner of the property. However, from what I understand I should provide some concrete evidence that this property belongs to us?

Any advice would be appreciated

Many thanks

If you've bought the property, then the estate agent's details sheet which describes the property is always good evidence to have.

Hi Scouse,

Thanks for the reply. Do you really think that will be sufficient if I don't have the deeds at hand?

You don't need the deeds, a council tax bill will be sufficient proof that they live there. They should state in their letter the size of the house and the number of people currently living there to demonstrate that there is sufficient room for her to stay in addition.
