Visa Run?

Featured Replies

I just found this on another site [ asiatradingonline.com]. Is it accurate?

"If you are on a tourist visa living or staying in Thailand the days of visa runs are over. Maximum stay of 90 days for foreigners then you must leave for 90 days. Visa-on-arrival (VOA) regulations HAVE BEEN tightened for nationals of 41 countries to prevent abuse of the privilege and curb the rising number of illegal entries, according to the Immigration Police Bureau (IPB). Foreign nationals from those countries, including the US, China and India, can stay longer but with fewer chances of renewing the VOA."

That information is not correct and is not new. There is a limitation of 90 days stay on visa exempt entry during a six month period. There is no requirement to remain outside of Thailand for any time and you can always enter with a visa.

1. No requirement to remain outside of Thailand 90 days.

2. No VOA change - this is visa exempt entry (15 day stay) and has nothing to do with visa on arrival.

3. There has been change in the allowed stay - in fact it has decreased to 30 days tourist visa stay for a number of countries.

4. This all occurred in 2006.

Thanks for the clarification, and I'm sorry if it was all old, outdated info. I'm new to this preoccupation with searching for information on Thai visas, so everything I find is new to me! :o
