'certified' Copy Of Passport

Featured Replies

I am sponsoring my husband who is about to apply for a settlement visa for the UK.

I've read that we need to include a 'certified' copy of my passport. What does 'certified' mean and who can do it? Is it a really necessary?

Thanks for any suggestions.

J

It means that a copy of the original document is signed off by a professional as being true. The embassy ask for this, but I personally don't see the need. If the embassy wish to dispute the authenticity of the copy, they have to say why.

Scouse.

Also remember that if you're in Thailand (or indeed another country where your husband is applying for an SV for the UK from) at the moment, give the visa centre/consulate your original passport with a copy so that they can 'certify' its validity for themselves before returning your passport back to you. For the sizeable application fee charged, you'd expect them to actually do some work for themselves.
