My brother(Brit) wishes to take a friend ,who is a Thai national, to Gibralter on holiday.

Would a UK tourist visa be all that they would need ,assuming that they fly there from the UK or Thailand?

If they decided to cross into Spain I understand that a Shengen visa would be required and would have to be applied for in Thailand.

My brother is a resident and home owner in Gibralter.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

I believe that someone who holds a UK visit visa valid for one year or more is exempt from the requirement to have a visit visa for Gibraltar, but that if the UK visa is valid for less time than this, a separate visa for Gib will be needed.

For a definitive answer, I'd contact either the British embassy in Bangkok or the Gibraltarian authorities.

Scouse.

So it looks like a visa for Gibraltar will be required if he only holds the 6 month visitors visa for UK

Your understanding about a visit to Spain are correct
