Me and my wife got married last week, a thai traditional marriage and also registered it at the local Amphur in Bangkok. So we have the marriage certificate and all the legal stuff done. Is it best to register this marriage also at the british embassy/consular before we submit her visa application, or just submit it all together???

If you wish, you may lodge your marriage at the embassy, but you don't have to do this is you don't want to. To be honest, there is nothing tangible to be gained by doing so. Just submit your Thai marriage certificate and a translation with your wife's application.

Scouse.

A Thai marriage is recognised as being authentic worldwide, however it would be prudent to get the marriage certificate translated/certified should you require to prove your marriage outside Thailand at some time but a translation is not required for UK visa applications in Bangkok. Documents in Thai can be read by staff at BE Bangkok.

You cant register your marriage with the british embassy. You can only have it recorded and the original marriage certificate sent to the UK never to return. This costs you a lot of money for the privilege of losing your certificate and the only , solitary benefit is if you live in UK and you want a copy of your certificate then they will give you one at a further cost of course.

As I live in thailand and dont at this moment intend returning to the land of scowls, I decided that my cash and my certificate was better left in my own possession. :o
