New Regulations (viisa-run)

Featured Replies

hi´

like most of you I have learned about these new requirements for a visa run ...

need to show 20,000 B ... :o

how is it for you?

does it bother a lot?

do you find this dangerous?

is is fair, or just like any regulations ... will go away in sometime?

thanks for your incoming comments :D

cheers

I only learnt of this new requirement in the last few days Francois (I've been away). I personally don't do visa runs but I can see the logic in requiring a person entering into the Kingdom for up to 30 days to give proof that he/she is able to support him/herself during the stay. When you apply as a foreigner for a UK visa you need to show evidence of sufficient funds (or access to sufficient funds) to support you for the length of your stay. So I guess Thailand is just catching up with other countries.

As used to be said in a UK club I frequented a long time ago - "We have a cover charge of 10 pence to keep out the riff raff" :o

At least they were honest about it in that club Jaye :D Ten pence cash would still slow a few of 'em down hereabouts.

The money requirement is fine in itself, and the actual sum is reasonably set.

The requirement that it must be CASH however, is inconvenient for those who go. I can understand why a lot of foreigners feel uncomfortable knowing that every single soul around Mae Sai knows that they have at least 10.000 baht cash in their pocket.

hi'

about money I won't worry, I have been there with at least 5,000B, so a bit more won't hurt, just have to think to keep this d$mn 10,000 when back to border :o

but, at the time I'll be back, we will have no worry, married with a kid, I'll apply for a year visa, so no need for any visa run anymore :D

I just wanted to know how everyone feel about this ... that's all :D

cheers
