Hello

I have just received a phone call from my Wife who is at the UK Visa application center in Bangkok applying for her Visa.

As from 1st March applicants have to get a bank draft to pay the Visa fee.

No good turning up with cash. She has now gone to find a bank to get one.

I think that the visa fee has had to be paid by banker's draft for some time now. This was certainly the case last September when my missus got her last V-V. At that time there was a bank located on the ground floor of Regent House, which was very convenient. Do I understand correctly that this bank is no longer there? Or is it a matter of trying to avoid a small surcharge on the draft? As far as I remember they didn't charge for the service last time.

Sounds strange to me. We just got our visa last month and when my fiance tried to hand over our bank draft (Bank of Ayudya) they refused to take it saying it wasn't right. God knows why, it was for the right amount and made payable to the right account. We had to go back to the bank, get the draft changed back into money and then return. My other half was then able to go inside the visa centre with the cash and for a small fee get the money paid correctly. I can't see why they would suddenly have stopped this facility within the last 4 weeks.

Stopped on the 1st of March.
