If you knew me better you wouldn't ask... :o

You're travelling from Pattaya to CM just for a TV p1ssup? Well, from what you say, you've got the goods to get there by air. Just light a match.

Good to hear that Raro; I don't think you had signs of Diverticulitis because the intestines wouldn't have accepted the muesli, instead would have sent you to hospital.

So, good signs and progress and you will feel a lot better after a while, having muesli for breakfast !

That's just what I was thinking! :D

is it? I thought the high fiber is exactly what we want? There you go with self-medication... :o

Good luck with your recovery OP.While were on the subject of intestinal problems.I very rarely have a solid dump in the years ive spent here in asia.Should this be a worry,or is it a thai thing aswell, what with the chillies & all?I dont eat alot of cereal or wholegrains over here. :o

Indeed it is VERY good to have fiber containing food.

I think you misunderstood me. IF..just IF, you would have had inflamed diverticuli, causing Diverticulitis, your Colon/testine would NOT have accepted the muesli AT THAT PARTICULAR TIME, and -the muesli- would have been the cause of (immense) pain, sending you to hospital.

The moment one lands in hospital you're put on a -ZERO- diet; just a drip with sugar/salt solution avoiding you of getting hungry. Drinking water is OK. The colon and inflamed diverticuli need rest and no food. There is no real cure other than an operation in a later stage, removing a part of the inflamed colon/testine.

Thanks Uptou !

I'm not sure if this is something to worry for you, but I would be worried.

A good stool is very important. Personally I think you should try to eat (maybe breakfast for a start) more fiber containing food, cereals (muesli) or a nice piece of brown bread.

The western stomach and colon/intestine isn't build for spicy and Thai food; we can get used to it but I think we need cereals/grain/brown bread and stuff like that as well.

Since many years I take natural 'Psyllium Husk Fiber Caps'; they 'bind' the food better in the colon and produce fine good old-fashioned dumps :D I take 'em everywhere I go and am very strict, taking them. (the Caps that is.....) :o

Nevertheless I must have been eaten something, causing problems, sending me to hospital; lately I had an addiction for salted, oil-broiled peanuts.....I have a feeling those were the bad boys causing me trouble.......... :D

ok...got it now...Thanks a lot for the explanation! :o

Update:

Hospital… third time in 5 months….Feb, March* and July…

A Bacteria Attack:

Wednesday July 9th I had my second prostate biopsy this year. PSA was too high and grew too fast since the first one in Feb.

The first 10 shots went OK; the last 2 were quite painful as the Urologist went deep inside the prostate to remove tissue for further examination; he probably ‘touched/hit’ something else also rather than just the prostate which caused the bacterial attack…see below.

Thursday July 10th: In the afternoon I got fever and went to bed after dinner. Around 8.30/9.00PM I got a sudden and uncontrollable heavy shivering; it was unstoppable and frightening and I was hardly able to speak. My whole body was shaking. Temperature went up to 39.9.

The shivering and shaking didn’t stop and lasted around 2 hours; it was pure hel_l….10.30PM we phoned the home doctors org. but it took 2 hours before a doctor showed up at 00.30AM.

After he had a phone consult with my Urologist I was urgently taken to hospital.

Diagnosis: possible severe attack by –an unknown kind of- bacteria. Blood pressure was dangerously low. My urologist (fearing for my health) showed up at the hospital at 01.45AM… :o

Treatment: 3 different Anti Biotics, 1500 mg each in fluid form…and supplied one after another, plus normal Glucose. Many urine and blood tests were taken.

Friday July 11th: Temperature went up and up and reached 40.3; Friday evening/night the doctors discussed whether to take me into Intensive Care or not. They decided to monitor my condition every 15 minutes and if the temperature would rise further to put me on IC.

Bloodpressure still dangerously low.

Saturday July 12th: Temperature went down but in the afternoon, during visiting hours, fever came back and I had another severe shivering attack in the presence of my wife, my sister and later my son; it was so bad and severe that they thought I wasn’t going to make it…everyone panicked…

The nurse who helped me shouted (!) at me that it was ‘normal’ and would go away and that I didn’t need a doctor; instead I was given (at my request) 1.000 mg Paracetamol and the shivering stopped after 30 minutes or so.

A very frightening experience, especially also for my sister who lost her husband exactly 5 years ago during dramatic circumstances in their own house. A horrible déjà vu for her, also because of the unprofessional behaviour of the nurse.

Sunday July 13th: I felt much better and 1 of the 3 different AntiBiotics was removed because they found out that it didn’t ‘match’ the bacteria-treatment.

Monday July 14th: 2nd AB was taken away; A doctor told me they found out it were E.Coli Bacteria which caused the ‘problem’ and entered my bloodstream during the biopsy on Wednesday 9th. :D This particular Bacteria live in the urine bladder/stream and something must have gone wrong during the biopsy making it possible for the bacteria to enter the prostate/bloodstream.

Tuesday July 15th: Felt much better although exhausted but fever free and bloodpressure back to normal.

Wednesday July 16th: released from hospital with a 10-day prescription for more Anti Biotics.

All in all: frightening…..but: I’m back !

Wednesday July 23rd: almost one week since I was released from hospital but I’m still exhausted and have to continue my AB's until coming Sunday; so 16 days in total of heavy stuff AB's...

* Feb+March for Diverticulitis.

Flipping 'eck LaoPo, you've been through it! Hope you continue on the road to recovery - God bless.

Bloody he11 LP, you have been through the wars recently, I sincerely hope that the worst is behind you now.

Hey LP, really sorry to0 hear of all your medical traumas. It must have been very frightening.

Hope you are on the road to recovery now.

Is there any chance you could let me know which hospital you went to?

Thanks

Mobi

Crikey that is scary. Good to hear you made it through and here's hoping you continue to make a full recovery.

Sorry to hear of your ordeal LP, thought you had been missing in action lately.

Not a very pleasant experience for you and your family. I hope the biopsies are clear.

Are you in your home country at the moment?

Truly frightening. Unfortunately, this type of thing happens all too often. Doctors bury their mistakes - thank gawd you weren't one of them.

Glad you are recovering LP. I'm not even going to surmise how you got an e. Coli infection during a biopsy. Keep drinking plenty of liquids with electrolytes in them. Your system has taken a real shitkicking and it needs all the TLC it can get. Good luck to you.

Glad to see you back Lao Po. Sounds like a horrible experience and I hope you're recovering well.

Here's something to ponder on while you get your health back. It's an analog chart I ran across yesterday (updated till then). It's not my work so I wouldn't post it in the main forum. Probably will amount to nothing:

:o That's unbelievable Lannarebirth; it's like a copy of the '87 crash... :D Did you check if the charts numbers are correct ?

To answer some questions: I am not in Thailand and was in a local regional hospital in my home country.

The tissue of the first 10 shots of the biopsy were OK; the last 2 showed irregular cell-structure but doesn't have to be worrying because it could also come from an infection or so.

Next check up in 3 months.

I'm pretty tired though and have to go to bed again 3 hours after I wake up in the morning. Not fit enough to join the Olympics for disabled -yet- :D

Take it easy man, these things take time.

Sometimes I'm short of English knowledge and understanding certain slang....this is one of those times...please enlighten me what you mean....? :o

LaoPo

'I need to go......' 'you want to go?......'

It's one of those English language uses where the last few words aren't used as they are considered rude and everyone understands what you mean anyway (usually accompanied by finger pointing)....... in this instance the silent words would be ' for a piss'

'Mind how you go' can have several uses and meanings. 'Take care of your self' is a good one. 'Take it easy' is an other. 'Watch where you go' is a good one, as in, Look out for yourself.

Depends on the context. In this case I'm sure it means take care!

The tissue of the first 10 shots of the biopsy were OK

good to hear!

please enlighten me what you mean....? :o

It was my attempt to inject some humour and at the same time wish you good luck.

'Mind how you go' is a colloquialism for take care, 'to go', is a euphenism for going to the Loo.

I used 'Literal' in the sense that the term 'Mind how you go', was meant to be taken as, 'Take Care', Figuratively was used metaphorically, i.e not literally, not to be taken as 'Mind how you go to the Loo'.

It was just a pun on the use of the English Language.

When it is explained in full it is clearly not humourous nor even funny, I had to use a dictionary myself just to explain it, which can't be good.

So, Good Luck

Moss

LaoPo

Yes, the dates and prices are correct, though the present chart is 5 times longer in time. That would mean the 2-3 remaining days in the fractal would take 2-3 weeks to play out. Or not. Feel better soon.

:o Thank you chaps for explaining to me; I learned again today and that's a good thing :D
