Thaksin urges Thais to be more optimistic

(BangkokPost.com) – Every major politician’s opinion on the amendment of the 2007 constitution seems to be public knowledge so far.

It's now Mr Thaksin Shinawatra's turn to enlighten the public on this issue. The former prime minister said any changes made to the constitution should be done as a joint effort from all sides.

“There will be no violence if everyone’s priority is national interest,” he said.

Speaking from a five-star hotel in Bangkok, Mr Thaksin said it is a duty of those concerned, to ensure that the constitution is a democratic one. Any changes made should be done to guarantee human rights. Those responsible for amending the charter should consider how the public will benefit from it above all else,” he said.

Mr Thaksin then urged Thais to look on the bright side of things and to avoid pessimism. He encouraged Thais to support one another rather than try and pick up fights.

“Thailand would be a pleasant country to live in if we can all do that,” he said.

Sounds like he got the script out of an old Monty Python movie

Always Look on the Bright Side of Life

Some things in life are bad,

They can really make you mad,

Other things just make you swear and curse,

When you're chewing life's gristle,

Don't grumble,

Give a whistle

And this'll help things turn out for the best.

And...

Always look on the bright side of life.

[whistle]

Always look on the light side of life.

[whistle]

If life seems jolly rotten,

There's something you've forgotten,

And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing.

When you're feeling in the dumps,

Don't be silly chumps.

Just purse your lips and whistle.

That's the thing.

And...

Always look on the bright side of life.

[whistle]

Always look on the right side of life,

[whistle]

For life is quite absurd

And death's the final word.

You must always face the curtain with a bow.

Forget about your sin.

Give the audience a grin.

Enjoy it. It's your last chance, anyhow.

So,...

Etc Etc…………………..

reading between the lines ,....I hope he is saying......,ok we politicians have overstepped our mark. both me and previous goverments lets change the constitution to allow freedom of the press so we can prevent this sort of thing happening in the future,..etc etc,......BUT It could also be "look" now I'm back and my mates have got some control over you lot so you keep your mouth shut and I'll keep my mouth shut and we'll both keep the spoils,....i'm sorry to say that if past history is anything to go by the "latter"will apply :o
