Entry Question

Featured Replies

What happens if someone who has been deported from Thailand before returns to the country?

If you are deported, you will be on The Immigration Black List,[Person non grata],and will be refused entry on arrival in Thailand. The only way round this is get a new name and new passport, which is all very esy in The UK,do not know about other countries.

depends on why you were deported. If it is for a criminal reason, they probably will blacklist you . In this case, you are SOL unless like the previous poster said, you change your name and get a new passport. If it is for overstaying, chances are they will not black list you and you can just come right back in.

It said permission is required to enter the country. What is this permission? Is it the visa or something else?

If you require permission, then it sounds like you have been black listed. Probably not deported just for an immigration issue, but some sort of crime. You would either need to change your name legally and get a new passport or work with a lawyer in Thailand to get yourself removed from the blacklist.

If visa is given to me, does that qualify as a permission? If not, on arrival would I be sent back immediately or taken to detention? If so, for how long would the detention be?

Embassies and Consulates do not have access to the black list,

so you may get a visa and still be sent back on arrival.

I do know someone who experienced this.

Unless you are "wanted" by the Thai police, then the max detention

will be until the airline can take you back home.

If I appear at a border crossing, will I be sent back to the other country or taken into detention to be sent home by flight?

You would not be allowed to enter - but if other country will not allow you to return you would likely be allowed illegal entry and taken into custody for deportation rather than required to camp out on a bridge.

Or Under One. :o

Can a blacklisted person transit through Thailand (like Bangkok airport)?

I would suppose so. Since you will not be going through immigration if you are just transiting.

I have legally changed my name (Just because I didn't like my old last name) When I changed my name I did get a new passport and name but not a new Social Security number. I don't know anything about deportation or if the UK has some equivalent number to your SS number but if so and the Thai authorities have it you are SOL.

How would the Thai authorities get your social security number? They only have the information that is contained on your passport, and social security number is not on your passport.

In the case of Thailand the personal ID card number is included in the passport and recorded by computer on each entry so some passports probably do directly link to there countries SSN or whatever they call it.

How can someone remove his name from the immigration blacklist?

How can someone remove his name from the immigration blacklist?

Hire a Thai immigration attorney to take care of it for you.

From what I hear, it is not easy to do even with a lawyer. Doing it by yourself from outside Thailand I think is pretty much hopeless.

#5 Isnt anyone who is deported automatically placed in the immigration blacklist?

There was a case discussed in this forum last where the passengers on a border run bus were checked by police. Those on overstay were arrested, had to appear in court, and were ordered to leave the country. One then reported here that he went to a nearby country, got a visa, and returned the following day. Posters on the forum referred to his court-ordered eviction from the country as deportation but I cannot say whether it was listed as such in the immigration database.
