i need to ask the doctor 2 questions about a current infection. i'm looking for the easiest/shortest way to say it coz he knows my thai is limited :o

1. is the bacteria (germs) still in there?

can i say baek tii rea yang kong yu mai

2. will it (the infection) come back? (as in, is it a chronic/recurring problem)

can i just say sam roi ik mai

many thanks.

2. will it (the infection) come back? (as in, is it a chronic/recurring problem)

- แล้วมันจะกลับมาเป็นอีกมั้ย láew man jà glàp maa bpen èek mái

many thanks.

I would also suggest that you conclude these sentences with the word ครับ "Krap" - unless you particularly enjoy injections with blunt needles or rectal exams sans lubrication :D .

Hi,

My honest opinion is that if you need to ask for information on how to ask the doctor a question in Thai about something that is important I would forget the aasking in thai part and ask him in English or your native language if english isnt it. Again, if you need to ask for the words to say to the doctor, are you really going to understand his reply as you rely only need to go in to anywhere and speak a little Thai and the Thais will then go off speaking at a alarming rate and with something so important such as your health I wouldnt want to get something wrong either in the question I asked the doctor or to understand his reply.

yes, falcon is absolutely right! never go to a doctor you don't understand and who doesn't understand you. think of a lawyer and you will understand it even better. a doctor who didn't pay attention in his english lessons may have been easily 'kii giat' (lazy) in his medical lessons too.
