Did The Earth Move For You Too ?

Last night we had a short tremor, felt & sounded like a truck speeding past, at about 02.30, here in Mae-Jo. :o

Latest seismic event showing on any website is a Richter 4.4 Assam, India on April 17 or a 5.4 Nicobar Islands same date. I'll check for updates later in the day.

Thanks PH !

It might have been the Special-Forces transport-elephant Troop, up at the Mae-Sa valley, practicing their night-time parachute-jumping again ! But I just wonder how local it was, as I heard a 'buzz', that there was a 2.3 R up at Phrao a couple of weeks ago. :o

I felt it---definitely seemed like an earth tremor. We live near to the Rimping which is at the Mae Jo Rd/first ring road junction, but a bit closer to the city.

Mrs Ricardo's sources at the earthquake-station inform her that it was just under a 4, on the Richter scale, and was on the Mae-Rim to Doi-Saket fault-line. Definitely noticeable if you were already awake, due to the heat, but possibly not strong/loud enough to wake you up. :o

I cannot decipher the location in Thai from the meteorological dept, but you can look it up precisely on Goggle Earth. I tried, but Google works too slowly for me. Maybe one of our posters lives a freckle and a hair next to the epicenter.

3.9 Richter quake hits Chiang Mai

Chiang Mai - An earthquake measured at 3.9 on the Richter scale rocked Chiang Mai early Tuesday.

Pongsaporn Panatkorn, an meteorologist of the Northern Meteorologist Office, said the quake with epic centre in Mae Rim district about 12 kilometres from Muang district struck at 2:31 am.

The quake was mild so it did not cause any damage.
