muckpuk Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 I've posted this message a while ago on I think maybe the wrong forum. Got only one response. Althought it is a very helpfull one and a way forwards I was hoping for some more info. I´m looking for a traditional Thai or Chinese herbdoctor on the island. I have visited one in London several times and had good results from it. The problem is one of fooddigestion. I would like to find out what my body does and does not like foodwise. Because it seems to disagree whith what my mouth and tastebuds like!!! I seem to spend every night with a burning stomach, and also feel like I have some intolerances issues going on. I would like advice and getting my body back in balance.I don´t want to keep eating anti acids! I did like the chinese medicines but am seriously against using any animal ingredients ,and the herbdoctor in London only used plants and mudd and stuff Therefore I might like a thaiherbdoctor better. Or a nature and animal conscious chinese herb doctor! Can I find one on Phuket and where? I can only find the big spa advertisements about health and traditional massage and medicine, but am not sure how serieus to take those. Any suggestions???? Thank you
Kiwi/Thai Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 "Dr Garnett B Symonds DO. LCSP.D.Hom (med) HMD is an osteopath and a fellow member of the British institute of Homeopathy". tel 076 388524 or [email protected] I got this info out of one of the local rags about 3yrs ago. fiddlehead Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 I sometimes use these Chinese herbalists also for past problems. I had hives 2 years ago and after 3 western doctor visits, in which they all told me to take steroids and cortisone, which i definitely did not want to do as they are only a coverup and not a cure. Anyway, i found an herbalist in Bangkok and he gave me some herb that smelled like licorice. It did the job for a while but it came back. Eventually i used homeopathic medicine to rid myself (ever since) of the problem. However, i have never seen one of these shops in Phuket. I think you may have to go to Bangkok. Also the homeopathic medicines is not something i've ever seen here. My friend is into it big time and had a lot of the bottles with her. Good luck, let us know what you find.
donna Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 phuket international has chinese medicine practitioners. they may be worth a shot.
Redted Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 I can relate to your condition and think that slippery elm will help you out. It is not a cure but taken on a regular basis the complaint seems to ease and fix itself. Stay away from rich foods and pickles, salads, smoking, etc, etc. Here is a link for more info: http://www.alternative-healthzine.com/html/1100_2.html Best of luck. Ted.
muckpuk Posted May 2, 2008 Author Posted May 2, 2008 Great thank you all for all the input! As soon as I know more I'll let you all know. Redted, if you can tell me where on Phuket we can get good pickles, I'll eat them no matter how burned my stomach will feel for a night! I miss them!!! And any idea where I can get the slippery elm?

Onions, sliced beets, gerkins, and others.

I am not sure if you can get it in Phuket, but you should get someone to send you some, you can get it in any good health food shop, mix it with milk, tastes good too. You can buy branston pickle in tops super market in central, stocks run out fast so buy a few at a time . Try making pickled onions & eggs your self, easy to make, just water down the vinegar a little. Ted.
logbags Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 There is a clinic in Phuket town where you can buy excellent and cheap herbal medicines over the counter. There is a Chinese Dr there who is a woman and she makes the herbal medicines herself. You can tell her your problem and she will recommend a treatment or you just choose what you want yourself. I know where it is but can't remember her name, if I remember it I can post it but its not hard to find as she is well known in Phuket and a lot of locals go there. You pay something like 60 baht a bottle or 100 at most. A consultation is something ridiculous like 50 baht
