Marriage visa

Featured Replies

Dear All,

I am planning on marrying my Thai girlfriend next month. I am staying here on a tourist visa at the moment. I have 3 questions and I would appreciate if someone can answer them.

1. As for the actual marriage registration at the "Amphur", do I need another visa or can I do that while staying on a tourist visa. (I have all the other necessary marriage paperwork in place)

2. When I recieve the marriage certificate I want to apply for a multiple entry Visa "O". Which embassy is the best to go for a multiple entry type "O" visa ? (Penang - Vientiane ?)

3. How many entries is the max. I can apply ? (4 entries-1 year ?)

Your help is highly appreciated.

Many thanks,

John

1.  Yes.  Tourist visa fine.

2.  Penang IMHO.

3.  Multi (unlimited).  That would allow 5 entries of about 90 days if that is what you are asking.  Plan on last entry a day before the visa ends and it will serve you for almost 15 months.

John,

Just take into account the time it takes to obtain the "Freedom to Marry" declaration from the Embassy and get it stamped by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs before it is accepted by the local amphur.

Just don't leave it to the last minute.

Have a good wedding.

Sev
