No, it was just crossing the road...

If it is out near the police station then there are coconut plantations surrounding the area, the main town would be a kilometer or two away. There are several govt offices, a pre-school and houses in the area.

Reminds me of a python some friends of mine saw out near the high school about 16-17 years ago. It stretched across the entire width of the road. My friend's mother said she had heard baby pigs and small dogs had been going missing in that area then.

Baby pigs and small dogs are very common food by pythons. Also part of elephants and crocs gets eaten in those hollywoodmovies. :o
