Amazing........

Mind you, Victorians MUST be the best supporters of sport, bar none.

The Melbourne Rebels debut game against the Waratahs was the most watched regular season game in Australian Super Rugby history.

According to the OZTAM ratings panel, the game had a peak average of 319,000 people and an average of just under 300,000.

The figure is over double the regular audience and more than last year's third Bledisloe Cup match in Sydney won 22-21 by the All Blacks.

With a regular dose of local rugby, I reckon AFL fans, the intelligent ones, will migrate to rugby.

More exciting, a man's game.

C;mon Da All Blacks.

Up there Cazaly

Carn The Saints..... for the flag.

Great video, if yer an AFL fan

OK, Pete.

Now, being a Saints supporter, can you tell me how many marks were made by St Kilda players in that clip?

I saw one - that was grounded!

World Cup update:

NZ 5/70 after 16 overs.

Came across this blog. This guy is funny!

World Cup Blog

I liked this paragraph:

Imran Tahir was superb on his international debut. However, as a proud Englishman, I find it more than a little disappointing that South Africa should resort to recruiting so many players from outside their own country. In contrast to England’s entirely homegrown squad – to qualify under ECB regulations now you have to prove that you have a bloodline descending directly from 10th century Saxon king Aethelred The Unready ‒ South Africa’s team today included not only Tahir, but also Jacques Kallis (obviously French), AB de Villiers (Uruguayan), Morne Morkel (born in unexplained circumstances in the Vatican City), and Faf du Plessis (escaped Kazakh freedom fighter).

NZ all out 206.

I am a Kiwi, but on form, surprised they managed that many runs.

Hey OC, wot ya reckon Melbourne's REBELS ?

Only second game beating Brumbies.......

..................25 - 24

Don't know much about them, haven't really followed the rugby off season.

Liked it.

Liked Kevin on QandA the other day too.

Landed everyone, including himself, in the sticky brown stuff - "Not me, Guv' - I was out of the country when that happened."

A VERY INTERESTING CASE FROM AUSTRALIA.

WHAT A BITCH!!

This is one of the big news items on tonight’s news over here.

The woman In the burqa was pulled over by the police because she was a “P” plate

(provisional) driver and the plates weren’t displayed correctly.

He asked her for her license and asked her to remove her burqa so that he knew it was her license.

She then accuses him of being racist and that the only reason he pulled her over was because she was wearing a burqa.

She then tells him he will be sorry and that she would take him to court.

Then she contacted the media and says that he was very racist and touched her burqa and she was intimidated by him.

However luckily for the policeman, the police car’s video camera was operating and it was all caught on film.

She has now been charged and supposedly is going to be jailed for 6 months.

The judge said she was the racist one.

Now her solicitor is saying it wasn’t her who made the complaint, but someone else in a burqa and they are now saying she shouldn’t go to jail as she has 7 children.

But how could the silly moo drive with her vision partially obscured?

Should be done for dangerous driving - licence suspended.

This is multiculturalism at it's non-working best.

We had a fred on burqahs many moons back.

ALL muslim wimmin need one communal licence if she was NOT punished..........

Just wear a burqah, refuse to remove it, nobody the wiser.

Guess a guy could pretend to be a woman.

Possibilities endless. reverse racism.

Everyone in all countries should view this.

When did Australia invade Denmark.

Only the Aussies would do this to the Brits

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/foodanddrink/foodanddrinknews/8533896/Marmite-made-illegal-in-Denmark.html

Marmite made illegal in Denmark

It's gotta be a plot to promote Vegemite, which, as everyone knows, is made from the droppings of the Danish dray horses used by Tuborg. (And that's got added vitamins in it)

I take it all back - this clip from today's follow-up article in the Telegraph:

Denmark recently rejected an application to sell Vegemite, an Australian Marmite-style spread. But one EU official pointed out that Danish food risk assessments are carried out on a case-by-case basis and "this does not necessarily imply that a similar ban will be introduced on Marmite".

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/foodanddrink/foodanddrinknews/8537021/Marmite-makers-urged-to-fight-Denmark-ban.html

It seems that the paperwork for Marmite had not been done - it is an illegal import into Denmark, while most pornography is perfectly legal. Ah, well, it's a strange world we live in.

And calling Vegemite a 'Marmite-like' spread!!

I ask you!

What standard of reporting are we getting in the UK broadsheets these days?

Thanks for the burqa post Pete (it didn't make it to my RSS feeds). What a pointed example of why there is no room for the burqa in western society.

Headline in sumfin yesterday.........

Marmite in Denmark is Toast.

Seems Marmite was sneaking in under some regulation, but now bin binned,,,,,,LOL

BTW, Ilike both, but prefer Mighty Marmite.

CROWN Princess Mary may have to resort to pickled herring on toast for breakfast, after news that Vegemite and Marmite have been banned in Denmark because they contain added vitamins.

Go read....

1 July, 2011 - The Australian Greens led by Bob Brown take balance of power in the senate.

Welcome to Brown Town! Song via Ray Hadley, 2GB Sydney (Twitter @s_dog)00:01:10

^They should relish their senate gains while they can. I'll wager the party will be all but defunct after the next federal elections - people are finally starting to wake up to their outlandish positions on all things 'green'.

I'm sure I fly with this guy regularly.

Qantas pilot ban after bender

A QANTAS pilot has been banned from flying after going on a seven-hour bender in Buenos Aires the day before he was due to fly back to Australia.

Over seven hours Second Officer Jeremy Hackett partied on with another pilot, drinking beer, wine and grappa, until the other officer became concerned he was delusional and suicidal.

He was snarling and ranting about the occult, death, apocalypse and his demons.

Don't know all the ins-and-outs, but I understand that the Senate (where the new Greens will sit) have an eight year tenure. So they'll dwell on after the next election.

The saving grace is that there should be a one-party majority after the next election in both houses. The way the country is run (???) at the moment is ridiculous - four or five people with no proper agenda are picking what legislation they like and JG is going along with all this so as to retain power, whatever the agenda she put before the electorate previously.

Don't matter whether it's Labour or Tony Abbott's lot - vote them a big majority!

Now, of course, there is the debacle with the electoral commission over here (Th) - I've got an awful feeling of deja vous as to where this could all be heading...

: *** Pigs ***

Last Tuesday Australian Foreign Minister Rudd got out of a

Commonwealth car in front of Parliament House. He was carrying a piglet

under each arm.

The Federal Police guard snapped to attention, saluted and said: "Nice

pigs, sir."

Rudd replied:

"These are not just pigs. These are authentic Australian wild bushpigs.

I got one for the Treasurer Wayne Swan, and I got one for PrimeMinister Gillard."

The Federal Police officer again snapped to attention, salutes and said,

" Excellent trade, sir. "
