Anyone know of anywhere selling Assam Tea in CM? I finished my stock of Twinings Assam Teabags months ago, replenished with the Marks & Spencer's Fairtrade Assam teabags a couple of times but now their shelves are dependably bare of almost any teas.

And, please - spare me any lectures about teabags versus pot-brewing. If you had the dubious benefit of seeing me still semi-comatose two minutes after stumbling out of bed first thing in the morning, you'd be more understanding :o .

Thanks in advance.

The Rimping store by the Airport has a good selection. Is it really good tea? It's got Ass right in the name and that scares me a little. I usually go for the green teas.

None at that Rimping - I check often. Very good tea - produces a strong brew that makes Ceylon (which is the basis of most "English Breakfast" Tea) taste anaemic. As to the rest............ "glass" is also spelt with "ass" - but I have no worries about using one to drink other liquids :D .

The "new" Topps supermarket ("old" Rim Ping) beside the Novotel has a good selection of teabags.

tata I agree is good, if you can find it. I have never seen Assam tea bags, but would be interested in finding them also. The tea plantations I visited in Assam used a blend of tea leaves to make their tea, each individual seemed to have what they called the secret mix. They were all excellant in taste, and bags of tea were not allowed.

Closer but no cigar..........

I checked out the (relatively) new Tops - Rimping as was - and found that their own brand English Breakfast teabags are 60% Assam and 40% Ceylon. Given that most EB teas are 100% Ceylon, this is a step in the right direction to finding the real McCoy. But, trying it this afternoon, I found it definitely needs the other 40% of Assam to give the real flavour of this great tea - slightly malted/smokey taste and definitely a strong brew for the morning kick-start.

The search goes on...............

Steve, if you take the trouble to call in on me someday, I will offer you a cup of 100% Assam Tea (Tata).

I buy it in little India in Bangkok, next time I am in BKK I will get an extra one for you!!
