Tt&t Maxnet Premier

For the past 4-5 days my Maxnet Premier service has been terrible in the mornings (Nong Hoi district). I have to reload a web page 20+ times to get it to load. Some sites won't load at all.

I call TT&T every day. They reset my connection, and then it seems ok for the rest of the day. They say I shouldn't leave my router on all the time. This kind of defeats the purpose of always on adsl I'd say.

Are others experiencing this, or is it just me?

Exactly the same problem here in Ban Parded, only over the last few days. Service has actually been very good recently (until the last few days) - maybe it's a back to school blip in bandwidth use, that's the only excuse I can think of.

Ignore the router advice - my advice: keep making the calls to the service centre and be patient until the problem is found and fixed.

I also use Max Premier and live in Nongkhay, Hangdong I also have the same problem. Access to some sites and not other. Had the problem for about 5 days.

I use CS-Loxinfo over a TT&T line and have experienced the same problems over the past few days.

spotty here also the last few days. TT&T Maxnet 2mb and only a stones throw from the TOT Central office. It seems to be international bandwidth issues. When I try to load a Thai site its fast. What the heck? They are making noise about 3g services and Wimax on the near horizon and the entire country has significant International bandwidth issues. Who cares about connecting at 30 mb if its only 200-300k to the outside world.

It's bad down in Pattaya too. Been up and down for the last few days, but today is ridiculous. This is the 4th time I have tried to post this - I'm off to the pub.

I also have a TT&T line and had a complete Internet outage Sunday + Monday. Since then it's been slow with intermittent dropouts, albeit fewer today than yesterday.

The support center claimed there was no problem their end because 'the signal was full'.

Looks like their servers are timing out all the time, possibly because some of their links went down (just a guess). It just happens too often.

I have both TT&T Maxnet Premeir and TOT Gold. Neither is a particularly good service but until the past couple of days they've at least been shitty at differing times. Now both are pretty slow, both have data dropouts, and both have websites they don't seem to like to open.

If I recall correctly, TRUE have their own international links, whereas the bulk of TT&T's international bandwidth goes through CAT. So if CAT has a problem, it rapidly becomes a problem for many TT&T users, too.

I remember that TRUE cable here in Chiang Mai behaved differently from TRUE ADSL in Bangkok, too. Usually to my advantage, they'd be swearing and my net was blazingly fast and stable...

This was the early days of the TRUE cable network with very few users.

I've been on Maxnet Indy 2mb for only one week here in CM. For the first few days they had me wired up at 1024 but after calling their service centre they bumped it up to 2048. For brief periods (a few minutes at a time) I get time outs, but usually it's quite stable. I'm getting full speed, appx 200kB/s, downloads on private bit-torrent trackers, but still rubbish speeds on public trackers. The MAXNET router seems to have custom TTT software which filters high end ports so VPNs, VOIP and bit torrent are effectively rendered useless. However if you use your own router, or change a few NAT settings in their router, you can get full speeds. If you're not sure which ports or what a NAT is, then you probably shouldn't try this. BTW, if you reboot their router, their settings are set back to the defaults, so you have to go in each time and reset again. Better to get your own router. Several people here say Indy is horrible, but so far, I'm gonna stick with it. Ask me again in a couple months I guess.

BTW, if you are having trouble with torrents, a Rapidshare Premium account is worth the inexpensive subscription, I won't go into details here, but let's just say that it works VERY well. The less said about it the better I think.

FWIW... In my daily complaint call this morning, TT&T finally admitted that there is a problem with the international link. Wonder why they didn't tell me that 5 calls ago?

I'm also with TOT and have had timing out issues yesterday and today - strangely I can send and receive emails no problem but loading a web page is either impossible or happens at a snail's pace - the problems are intermittent - if anyone has any info' regarding the TOT issues I'd be grateful if they would post here.

I started out with dial up yrs ago and used to use this small BKK company called jinet (jasmine internet, ji-net.com) because they gave me the best deals on those pre-paid cards for access minutes. I have since very happily carried on with them with adsl for years and hardly ever have a problem in speed or service. I watch these threads come n go about maxnet and wonder why so many ppl go for it. I suppose the price or whoever your phone carrier is will determine it for some. But overall my satisfaction couldn't be much higher. It's still a rip-off compared to what I'd pay in The States for waaaay better real DSL service, but my plan for 1326 B/ mo is great - I download movies all the time, no hassles. I forget which phone company I pay to ultimately, as I get a bill from TOT but know I've paid in the TTnT office too. I say do some investigating about ji-net if maxnet and its cheap deals keep leaving you dis-coneected.

Paying 5000 THB a month for 3MB Internet and have also problems.

First it was so slow that my computer couldnt conect to Internet.

Called Maxnet, they send someone the next day and he told me my router was not good enough??

Anyway is possible so bought a new wireless one from Belkin installed it and had full speed. :-)

But now the last days it is again slow less than 1.5MB So I really think to change from 3MB to 2MB why paying so much for nothing, even the advice to buy a new router has been for nothing.

I´m possitive that there is nothing wrong with the router :-( 8500THB gone.

Could someone tell me what speed I need for VOIP and looking TV?

For this reason I took 3MB.

Is Max net a good one or is there a better provider?

I dont mind to pay for it so long it is good working, need it for my work.

I´m asking this while I rent a house at this moment, and in 3 months our new house is ready so I can take any provider I want.

With me, it can be the opposite. Small email messages (no attachments) using Thunderbird going to gmail sometime fail even thought I am able to access the web although at a snail pace.

After 10 years here, trying many Internet Providers (IP), and working with computers for a long time..., it is true that the situation is not perfect. What I understand, and what they told me, is that Indy is mainly for domestic connection, and quite slow for connecting International. It seems also slower (can it be ?) for those who had the automatic promotion upgrade for Maxnet home to Indy 1 or 1.5 Mb.

Skype is encapsulated, that means that it cannot have a download/upload speed more that some Kb (3 or 4). International torrents are quite inaccessible.

Upgrade to Premier is yes a good solution, for Skype, torrent, email and browsing. Quite stable for me using it for 6 month now, at a little more that 1.000Bt / month. Stable download at 109 KB/s.Upgrade from Indy to Premier was done in 15mn at their office in Panthip. I had to keep calm and smiling, but was just explaining them that I was working and not playing games, as all the customers I recommended Maxnet ... And during the evening, I had Maxnet Premier activated.

Those last days, many IP had problems, maybe because of some damaged cables in Andaman sea with Nargis typhoon. I don't have problem here in Chiangmai with Maxnet Premier, by the way.

I was answering people asking question about quality/speed.

So to answer your post, resetting (switch off/ on) YOUR router can (but not sure) changing your IP, and maybe get a different IP range, which could be faster.

It could also change the priority you have on the queue ... but the reality is that it does not help too much on the long term.

I am connected 24h/day to Internet, sometimes for weeks ... this is what I call an "easy answer".

They can "reset" your account there, and this sometimes works better, don't ask me why.

The fact that when you cannot access a web page, it is not necessary linked to your router. But more to the DNS the give you. Next time this happened (web page not accessible), type on your browser "yahoo.com", and if this does not work , type "http://66.94.234.13" ... if this one loads fast, the problem is your DNS server.

Maybe coincidence but my modem had to be fixed last week.

After getting it back internet has been much better than before.

Can't remember what settings were before, but I think DNS has changed

and maybe IP has too.
