Was thinking of going out for an extended trip from thailand

Lao Or Cambodia . as a newbie to this area I thought i need help with this ,

so join the forum and learn. Advise where best in your eyes .

and can I drive my Thai pick up. say to laos what visas would i need

I am sure its been done befor or some one knows somone,

who is all ready there and can help me

You might also consider Vietnam, although I doubt if you can drive there.

IMHO, there is a lot more to see there - you could easily spend a month or two - it is very safe and because it has its own economy and doesn't have to import everything from somwewhere else, it is probably the cheapest overall. :o

If you go to Laos, I think you can enter Vietnam from eastern Laos

just on that, random, the search box at the top of every page is ace for entering stuff like "car to laos" etc and brings up lots of others that will prob have asked many of your questions /thoughts etc!

To take your car to Laos you need.

1. Ownership book

2. ITP International Transport Permit, available from you local Land Transport Office.

3. At the border you need to complete immigration docs TM2, TM3 (if you have a pax), TM4 for the car.

4. Lao visa you can get on arrival, valid for 1 mth & costs US$30.

5. If the car's not registered in your name, you need permision from the owner to export the vehicle.
