Rubberwood

Featured Replies

Hopefully this is the correct forum for my question.

I need to put some shelves up inside bathroom cabinates etc. Having just spent almost 1000 baht at HomePro buying shelving and associated supports for 60cm*50cm area it occurs to me that I will eventually have a big bill.

I just want some of what in the UK we would call 'battens' to use for supports. I see rubberwood, it looks ideal, I know a lot of furniture is made from it and it is also described as a hardwood. However my wife is against usage, she should know, as she says 'the beatle' loves it. We do have our house checked/sprayed/dusted whatever every three months (same as other house around) by the 'beetle man'. The house was new to us and only about three years old if thats any help.

Is she correct, if so, could I tread it or PU10 it..it would then be ok?

Thanks

I reckon if you treat it, it'll last as long as the shelves. No worries. Shelldrite's good. (called Chaindrite here now due to pronunciation problems :o )

Ask SOUNDMAN he has knowledge on rubberwood.

Thanks, but how do I find this Guy....incidentally..his house was eaten away?

I've had some rubberwood free standing shelves for more than 6 yrs now and haven't seen any insect damage. [altho, It could have been treated by the factory]
