hi:

i work with the us military here (however I am civilian) and have heard story after story of undying hate for TRICARE. I've heard that it is useless here, and quite a hassle to deal with, however if you PM me,...I can get you in touch with people whom have used it here and they can share tips and tricks with you if you need.

let me know, -matty

If you are a US Military retiree and live in Thailand you can get free supplemental insurance from Healthvisions. You cannot be signed up for tricare prime to use them. They take care of all paperwork and there are no costs to you. I signed up a few months ago and got a 3 month supply of meds before heading off to a job.

The only downside is that you must use the provider and designated hospital. I go to the Pattaya Doc and he will then refer to their hospital, which is in Sriracha for those in Pattaya area. You are still free to go anywhere else and pay up front and file for reimbursement if you don't like the service.

Got any info for DAVs? I'm one and could use some meds but don't know how to go about it. Thanks for any info.

Thanks Smokin Joe,

I will check out the web site. Is this only for the retiree or will it also apply to my wife.

Thanks Smokin Joe,

It applies to families also. Healthvisions just does all the paperwork that you could do yourself after paying upfront and they have found providers that will provide care and wait for reimbursement through Champus. They also cover any co-pays etc.

The web site changed a little. Drop the last part of the address I gave earlier and just use www.hvisions.com

Call Chris, or the guy listed for your area, and they can answer any questions.

Bud,

I would suggest you contact the TRICARE Rep at JUSMAG 02-287-1036 ext 511. Hospitals in BKK do take TRICARE directly for active duty, don't know about retirees should be you just pay a copay.

Mike
