Ranong Visa Run

Featured Replies

I need to do a visa run and Ranong is looking attractive. From reading the other threads, I can't figure out if the Andaman Club Casino actually has onsite immigration services. Can I go to Ranong and then take a boat to the casino, lose some money and then come back with a 30 day stamp?

Here's an article that answers yes to my question, but it was written in 2003...

Thanks for the clarification from anyone in the know.

Am not in the know but believe there is Immigration facilities at the pier that the casino boat travels from now so probably even easier.

yes they do have immigration services there and the boat ticket is 800 baht return, i caught a mini bus from chumphon 1200 baht return as i could not be bothered to drive the rest of the way, its a lot easyier and stress free than victoria point.

Do you have any details of the minibus service you used? e.g. Company, times of departures and returns etc.

The mini bus service i used was fame tour, chumphon-kohtao com. they left chumphon about 1230pm and returned chumphon 7 pm, ready for a night out and drive back in the morning. There is another company opposite the falang bar that does this also!, or you can drive directly to the peer and they have boats going over about every half hour. Hope this helps!!

That's great aka_jack, thanks very much for that info :o .

I went to the Andaman resort once, but couldn't do the visa, as I only had a couple of days left on my stamp (they wanted a week, at least, left on the stamp / visa if I remember rightly), so I went via the main immigration office. Easy.

A couple of years ago. I had the impression that they didn't want visa runners, they wanted people to use their facilities / casino and spend some money. As such, at that time, they had a requirement that you had a certain ammount of days left on your passport stamp / visa which I thought was 7 days. It was a fair while ago...

i had 3 days left on visa no problem! also some girl had a overstay dont know how long but fined and also crossed no problems.

Hey

Been using the Andaman Club for years. True that around 2003-2004 you needed 4 days left of your visa. Went 3 weeks ago on my last day, so definately no problems now.

There are 2 organized 'runs' going out of Chumpon - morning and afternoon. Morning trip goes to the Ranong Pier and Victoria point. Afternoon goes to A.C.

Tickets can be bought in Farang Bar and Fame GH. (and probably in travel agencies) and are 1200 thb, incl. the 10 $ to enter Burma.

Trip leaves around 13.00 and back 19.00. You will have around 45 mins in the AC (nice dutyfree).

Last time there was an 'overstayer' on the bus. He got taken down to the regular immigration office and back to the AC pier. Then he caught a later boat and made back with the rest of us.

Have a nice trip
