If it is that bad it a hospital job my friend, anything else is a total risk. Removal involves cutting the gum open and if it is as heavy as you say, shaving the jaw line. Phuket International is a good bet. Good luck.
podge Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 Hi i just had my upper wisdom tooth taken out as it was giving me swelling and pain, at bangkok hospital im terrified of the dentist but it wasnt bad i honestly did not feel a thing, not even the injections. And he sang rod stuart to me I understand though that your problem is much worse but i would recommend bangkok, it was only 700 baht, with xrays and extraction and drugs.
vanalli Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 This sounds terrifying. I live in fear of this kind of thing.
mekka Posted June 20, 2008 Author Posted June 20, 2008 hey podge...dont you mean 7000baht? did you get put under general? The dentist i have chosen does not put u to sleep, but i have a pocketful of valium ready to go, i am booked in for tomorrow morning and as stupid as it sounds its really bugging me out, havent been able to sleep and eat..i have a terrible dental phobia!
rixalex Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 My dentist in Bangkok uses gas to relax you. Doesn't your dentist offer this?
mekka Posted June 20, 2008 Author Posted June 20, 2008 I could not find a single dentist in phuket that offers gas!!! Im using DC-One dental clinic in the boat marina, which is supposed to be best of the best, yet no gas or no sedation!
rixalex Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 Sorry to hear that. I really feel for you. I'm amazed that they don't offer gas. In Bangkok it seems pretty common - well at the more up-market private clinics i mean. It's something i'm happy to pay extra for. Any chance of a trip to BKK Mekka? Or are you going to brave it tomorrow?
mekka Posted June 20, 2008 Author Posted June 20, 2008 unfortunatly im gonna brave it out tomorrow =/ wether i actually force myself to the appointment is another story haha this is the place im using http://www.dc-one.com/phuket/index_56Kphuket.htm and the specialist surgeon from BKK is coming to phuket tomorrow morning and she will be doing my surgery...dunno why im so worked up about it but i havent slept in a few days hahaha...cant wait till this time tomorrow when all is done!
rixalex Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 That's the spirit. This time tomorrow i'm sure you'll be wondering what all the fuss was about. Best of luck with it anyway.

mekka Posted June 21, 2008 Author Posted June 21, 2008 Oh god one hour to go and this all makes me feel great! hahaha
mekka Posted June 22, 2008 Author Posted June 22, 2008 Well i survived! What a relief and like i suspected it was nothing to get so worked up over..but i of course couldnt talk myself into thinking that 2 days ago! I took 2x valium 30mins before i arrived which didnt really do much for me...but the specialist dentist from BKK was great i explained to her that was freaking out and she talked me through everything..applied numbing gel before the needles so i didnt feel a dam_n thing, and when she started on the tooth if i could feel any sensation she told me to raise my arm and she would add more local..in all the procedure took 25mins max which i was very suprised about, she then stitched my gums up put some gauze in and off i went, got home and took the gauze out 2 hours later and no bleeding at all, not much pain just a little swelling on my neck. and i just managed to eat a whole BBQ Chicen pizza from pizza company hahaha so im very happy with the results and after 8 years of putting it off due to sheer terror its a big weight off my shoulders... although i have to go have one more removed next week but after the first one i know it wont be a problem. Only down side was cost at 8300b for the one tooth and xrays and meds...but it was well worth the extra money for the treatment i was given...the clinic looked like some sort of luxury health retreat! very calming atmosphere.

Glad that you survived the surgery, how do you managed to eat all that solid food? I guess that cost a lot in Thai Baht, in US it would be more than that. I wonder what you will eat when you get better.
mekka Posted June 22, 2008 Author Posted June 22, 2008 Well the fun has begun...a few hours after surgery i started to develop welling wich of course would be normal...but there is no swelling around my cheek/face its all under my jaw bone on my neck, feels like my gland is hard as a rock andits about the sie of a mango..and i cant open my mouth very wide or move my head up or down due to this huge ball like swelling...i got some anti biotics but i was considering going to the hospital...the pain runs from under my jaw all the way down my windpipe to my collarbone on the side of the surgery..anyone know if its normal for my lymph node to blow up like this? im starting to get worried....but apart from that a little pain and tenderness at the surgery site but nothing major....but this other pain almost feels like a really bad tonsil/throat infecton.....any help much appreciated

I know what you're going through, and it takes time to heel. Eat soft food or soup. Get lots of rest and seek help if you think you're not getting better. You are going to be okay.
mekka Posted June 23, 2008 Author Posted June 23, 2008 Gaiyaang...i was expecting the swelling to be around my jaw/cheek/face area right? there is actually no swelling there or near the sire, its just all down my neck, and the gland in my neck on that side is huge and rock hard, i cant swallow at the moment and if i clear my throat im getting green stuff coming out....please tell me this is normal if not i think i need to goto hospital as it doesnt seem normal to me....

That's a rare case, may be a swollen lymph node in your neck, not sure about the green stuff. I'm not the expert in this field. Can you contact the doctor that did your surgery or go to the hospital like you said just to be safe. Take care of yourself, let us know what happen.
mekka Posted July 1, 2008 Author Posted July 1, 2008 Haha im still alive all swelling went away by itself, although nothing would relieve any of the pain, they had me on Tramadol and i lost the plot, 5 days of amnesia, i supposedly was even driving my car around, wandering central, out and about and really have no memory of this, i was off the planet for 5 days, high as a kite but no pain releif..anyway im about 90% now still a bit of a constant nagging pain in the jaw though..
mekka Posted July 1, 2008 Author Posted July 1, 2008 Oh and i forgot the problem with my throat was my tonsils, they decided to flare up the day after surgery...possibly related but who knows?!...still have to get the other side out yet but the downtime for me was quite a while so i think ill hold off a bit on that one, it doesnt seem to be super urgent.
