Where can I find a notary public in Chiangrai? I need to get a document notarized before sending it to the U.S.

Cheers,

Tee.

Sorry to advise that there is no such thing as a Notary Public in Thailand. There is a process whereby a Thai Lawyer can attest the document but it then has to go to the Ministry of the Information to be ratified. It is a long and painful process.

There is a Notary in Bangkok who may be able to help but you would need to come down to BKK to do it.

The American Consulate in Chiang Mai would probably be your best bet. They do notaries there for something like $25, give or take. They are only open for these services on Tues and Thurs mornings, from 8 - 11 I believe, but don't quote me on that. I am sure about the Tues/Thurs mornings, but not the time periods.

Make sure you bring your passport with you. Don't bring alot of luggage/bags, odds and ins to the consulate, they have strict security screening.

Have to agree with ajarnP. I used a Thai Lawyer once for notary (he assured me it was same as US notary). The notary stamp was not accepted by the US business world nor the Thai consulant.

The above post by jimmym40 is correct.

For a notarized statement acceptable in the US, the US Consulate in Chiang Mai is your only possibility....unless you find a US registered Notary Public here!

It is 30 USD, and the schedule listed above is correct- Tuesdays and Thursdays only, 8-11 AM.
