I have seen Mazda Tribute for sale with full options 2003-2006 for 550,000 to 700,000 baht. As the new price is 1,200,000 then this seems like a good deal. I know Thais don't like any car other than a Toyota or Honda as the re-sale value isn't great, but as I am buying this as a company car, I don't really care about re-sale. Anybody owned on want to comment? Either 2.3 litre of V6.

Indeed a very correct observation. If you dont mind about other foreign models, I would recommend you look at the Ford Escape V6, which comes for less than 550K THB 3 - 4 years old today. However, looking in to these House Wife SUV's :o - I still think that the

older Honda C-RV is the best value for the price. I had 2 of those and just recently got the new model. A really good vehicle.

Sputter!! Someone responded. I think the Tribute is cheaper than the Ford Escape. At least those that I have seen advertised.

I don't want to spoil the fun but..

The Tribute is similar to the Ford Escape. Both are built on the same platform in an effort maximize profits for the two automakers. Both went on sale in 2001 and share many parts in common.

Mercury also has a version it is called the &^%$# ( i forgot...)

If you google tribute versus escape I am sure you will find a lot about these two almost identical cars.

Mmmm , good question, but i have not got the answer, i see these cars here too, but also know that engines and other differences are made for different markets/parts of the world, so i cannot comment on it for the Thai market now.

My mate owns a Mazda dealership and says the 2 litre engine is best, but he is slow giving me a quote on a 2nd hand car. Ed, you out there....?

the ford 3 litre petrol engine is exceptionally thirsty and the column mounted auto gearshift is annoying.

i looked after one of these cars for a friend who returned home for 6 months.

when they were on sale in the somewhat more sophisticated uk market , they were rubbished by the motoring press.

but for the prices they sell at second hand here in thailand , they are great value.

i know somebody who bought a 2 year old one , 16,000kms on the clock , dealer serviced , 1 years guarantee , auto , sunroof, leather , for 500,000b.

Does he want to sell?
