I went into town on Tuesday to buy a new DVD player.

I thought about going into the city to the electrical store but ended up and at Big C and was too lazy to go on to any where else.

I ended up with a name brand at a reasonable price and free speaker set up thrown in, which I already had, and took it home and started on the build up of DVD movies that have been sitting there since the old one cr^pped itself.

The little pop out tray wouldn't close properly, you had to get up and wriggle it around manually before it would shut. There was also something wrong with the reader, the picture quality wasn't good. (I checked it on a couple of older movies I had).

So I took it back today with the guarantee and they changed it over while I waited. I'd heard bad stories about having to wait while they sent it off for repairs but this was not so.

Happy to hear something positive, scea!

Was it NIB (new in box)?

I'm a freak about buying NIB- has to be sealed with factory seals, untouched by human hands since it left the manufacturer.

I've suffered grief early on with "last in stock" "demo" "open box but last at the sales price".

Glad it worked out for you!

This was a special deal Macca, reduced to 1490 from 1900 PLUS a free speaker set. They had them stacked up and I wavered a little between them and the 1999 reduced to 1599 before deciding.

I suppose it was a loyalty thing, I shop there for the groceries most weeks so why go somewhere else for the other goods?

Plus the little shop assistants are really.... :o

I've returned a couple of Items to big C in the last few years and indeed they were replaced immediately and without any hastle.......

One of the Items was clearly not new. I wouldn't for one minute suggest that they just put the rubbish back on the shelves , but how else do you explain it.

I tend to shop elsewhere .

I'm now big on NIB (New in Box) also. Its a challenge though as most places seem to remove the item from the box to check it works before you realise it.
