Thanks to all for making this wonderful and informative site. I am an indian citizen and am married to a thai since April 2001. We have a daughter now who is about 7 months. My wife wishes that we relocate to Thailand. Our Marriage was registered in india and not in thailand does this hinder my chance of getting a non-immigrant o visa? If so then what do you recommmend.

I can transfer 400k into a thai bank. Will this help in avoiding the visa runs? Would I also have to get a job there to get a one year visa extension? Will the visa also help me travel in and out of the country as I wish to?

I am also an IT guy with over 9 years of experience and plan to do an MBA in Thailand. Can anyone please advise me about job opportunities in thailand with and without the planned MBA degree.

About housing... I read from the posts that I owuld not be able to buy land and house there and only my wife will be able to since she is still a thai citizen. Does she also have to show that the money is hers and not mine even if I transfer to her?

Thank you

I would assume Thailand would accept the India marriage certificate but you can check that with the Royal Thai Embassy Consulate section to make sure (you might need special certification or something).  A non immigrant visa would help your travels but not sure if just a bank deposit will be accepted as support without some form of income - but it is worth looking into at an immigration office here after you get the visa.  Don't know what employment is like.  Wife would have to 'say' money is hers alone and you agree.  Not a big deal AFAIK.

Thanks Lopburi... Can my investemensts serve towards the income that is required? or Do I have to get a job in thailand before I can apply for my one year Visa?

Thank you

They could probably be used but be aware there may be income tax payable (maybe to more than one government) if you do this.  Think you should check this on the ground after you make the move.

Be aware that you must apply for your visa for Thailand IN India.  Your marriage documents probably need translating  into Thai,  have your wife contact the Consular section of  the Royal Thai Embassy to discuss their requirements.
