Hi Guys,

I am trying to get all the papers organised for my fiance to come back to Australia on a fiance visa but when she went to the police station today she was advised that she needs a copy of my passport and a form from the immigration department in order to get a police check which I can't for any reason understand why.

She did go without her own passport but had her ID card and Tabian Bahn,

Cheers

Hi,

I had the same experience two weeks ago. We thought we had everything we needed, tabian Baan, passport etc. Had to return to hotel and get my passport. They also asked for a form from NZ immigration but we explained that we had not submitted the application so had no form. NZ immigration do not have one, you have to get the police check and submit with the application. The lady at police HQ had a big folder which has instructions on what each country require. There was no instructions concerning NZ so she let it go.

I noticed on the form my wife had to fill out there was a section to fill in my details and passport number and they also required a photo copy of it as well to be included.

This seems to differ from information given in other threads so maybe things have changed. Also it has been advised that it takes seven days but we recieved a reciept telling us to return on the 30th to collect. So it seems that it is now three weeks plus.

The lady also checked my visa and consulted a calender, dont know what that was about and did not want to ask. I wonder if it would have been better if i had not gone along as there were other thai ladies doing the same on their own and i noticed they just left the part on the form for partners details blank.

Hope this helps

We did this about 3 months ago and it is a requirement to have a copy of your passport (signed and dated by you) and a copy of her own passport if the reason for the police check is for a visa to oz. Obviously if the police check is for employment or whatever, her passport (or yours) wouldnt be necessary. It wasn't necessary to have any forms from the embassy though as we hadn't submitted the visa application yet.

I also included a photocopy of my Thailand visa (expiry date) in there too.. to check you're legally in the country I suppose. It takes 10 working days to come back. Good luck!
