Where Is This?

Let me do a Chiang Mai variation on Stickman's 'guess where this insignificant little soi is':

Any thoughts? :D

Other shots are here:

Oh yes, answer to the obvious question:

http://www.keyhole.com

It's u n b e l i e v a b l e !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's the most stunned I've been at a computer screen for as long as I can remember. Ranks right up there with discovering Usenet for the first time in 1989.

Does need either significant bandwidth or significant patience tho. :o

Cheers,

Chanchao

Chang puek bus station (near the old stadium). :o

give us another one, I like this sort of game! :D

The first one is the go-kart track off the way to Hang Dong.

The second one is a temple on a hill in the wider Hang Dong area too, I am not sure of the name though.

The third one is a hill tribe museum in an artificial lake off the road to Mae Rim, and the picture was taken before all those food stalls appeared around the lake.

:o

Temple on the hilll is called Wat Prathat Doi Kham.

Okay, I obviously have to make these way more difficult. Stand by for a blurry shot of some non descript guesthouse in the inner city area. :D

Will be tomorrow though, this thing requires more bandwidth than I have at the moment on dial-up. :D

Cheers,

Chanchao

Doh, I came back too late! I would have got the Wat Doi Khum one as i once lived at the base of that hill.

Here goes;

Mystery #1 a small lake just behind Doi Saket

Some of the photos posted are of Wat Doi Suthep.

At a quess i would say that the first of Chanchaos is of his place?????

The second one could be anywhere, maybe back of worarot market somewhere? :o

  • Author

No, first one is a temple, and a well known one at that. I thought that one would be pretty easy also.. :o

Second one I bet at least some of the Chiang Mai regulars reading this have lived there or been there at least at one time or another.. :D

Ok just guesses but first one Wat Ched Yod just off the super highway and site of the 7th or 9th Buddhist council

Second one Lana 3 just off the Huey Kiew.

  • Author

First one correct! It is in fact Wat Ched Yod. You can see the old 7-tower bulding on the left, on the right a newer Wihan building. Right top corner is an older chedi.

But second one is not correct! :o

  • Author

No, it's Chang Moi Road. And the line on the top right is Mae Kha Canal. :o

:D

  • Author

So... you're looking at the soi that connects Chang Moi road with Thapae Road, the one right after the Thai Military bank. The most (in)famous condo in that soi is Veerachai Court... Not sure what the other one is called with the visible swimming pool.. I would have thought some readers live or used to live in either of those places? :o

Cheers,

Chanchao
