I am due to make my 90 Day Report to immigration later in August on a Tuesday. I don't live in Bangkok and have to make a special journey to report. I usually go to the main immigration office in Soi Suan Phlu.

I actually have to be in Bangkok on other business on the Wednesday after I am supposed to report, i.e. one day later.

Am I likely to have a problem if I make my report one day late?

There is a 7 day window either side of the date. So yes you are ok.

Why not in future do it by post and save the journey.

Is this "7 day window" in the rule book or is it just custom and practice?

I live just outside Bangkok, so the occasional jaunt into town is quite welcome!

It's in the rule book.

1. The foreigner makes the notification in person, or

2. The foreigner authorises another person to make the notification, or

3. The foreigner makes the notification by registered mail.

4. The notification must be made within 7 days before or after the period of 90 days expires.

5. The first application for extension of stay by the foreigner is equivalent to the notification of staying in the Kingdom over 90 days.

Wondering about doing it by post.

- is it really advizable to send off one's passport in the post (& having it similarly returned)?

- would one count the date of posting as the effective date & if so would the 7 day window apply to this posting date too?

1. Copy of all passport pages (up to the latest arrival stamp in the Kingdom or latest visa stamp)

2. Copy of arrival/departure card TM. 6 (front and back)

3. Previous notifications of staying over 90 days (if any)

4. Completely filled in and signed notification form TM. 47

5. Envelope with 5 Baht stamp affixed and return address of foreigner for the officer in charge to send back the lower part of form TM. 47 after having received the notification. This part must be kept for reference and for future notifications of staying over 90 days.

6. The above mentioned documents must be sent by registered mail and the receipt of the registration kept by the foreigner.

Send the mail before the renewal date 7 days to

Many thanks for the clarification - answers all my concerns and queries.

Looking at the procedure for applying by post, I think I'll continue to do it in person. Particularly since there is a two week window around the due date that I can utilise.

I do look at the Thai Immigration website but I always feel uneasy about the timeliness of the information therein. Probably because the site looks and feels like it is poorly maintained.

Plenty of members here do use the post method and it does work.

Personally I post mine to Korat and it always comes back ok.
