Television Reception In Bkk

Featured Replies

In Chiang Mai we get really good reception for the Thai channels and also have WETV which seeing as we don't watch much TV is fine for us. BBC, CNN, Aust channel, movies etc.

In Bangkok haven't got anything set up yet apart from normal TV plugged into aerial socket. The reception is diabolical; so even if we were going to make do with Thai TV it wouldn't work as they are mostly semi visible.

What does everyone use in BKK, is the only option True /UBC or are there others?

Don't really want a super expensive package as won't be there most of the time.

So far not feeling optimistic and purchased a DVD machine!

Just get the True basic package which includes all the thai channels, something like 500 baht a month.

We have ASTV, you have to buy the sattellite dish no monthly fee. You got 14 channels, not much and mostly news, mostly Thai. Channel 2 TOC is English ( Thailand's English News channel )

Sattellite Dish range from 1,650 - 4,200 bahts , installation can range from 1,500 - 2,000 bahts. You can find someone to do it cheaper or you can do it yourself.

If you have a True ADSL line or are planning on getting one I would suggest considering True IPTV It will give you the broadcast channels no charge and you will be able to chose the channels you want to watch. You do have to get their modem that hooks into your TV, and there are geographical limitations. Most likely due to bandwidth.

Thank you for the info. on True IPTV, that looks more like what I need.

Does anyone have experience with True Cable Magic?

Do any condos have it installed or can residents apply if enough people want to sign up?
