November 17, 200421 yr Travellers warned to beware of Thai provinces 18.11.2004 7.40 am The Ministry of Foreign Affairs yesterday recommended people to postpone non-essential trips to Thailand's southern Narathiwat, Songkla, Yala and Pattani provinces. Travel from Malaysia to Thailand through those provinces should also be avoided. New Zealanders in Phuket and Pattaya were advised to be cautious of "possible terrorist activity" in places frequented by foreigners. The ministry also warned people visiting Papua New Guinea to be cautious, and reissued advice that non-essential travel to Israel should be postponed.
