i just got myself a canon pro9500 and was trying to print out some images using photoshop cs3 but the result was unexpected... photos seem to loose brightness for about 1 stop ... making some details too dark to see

printing in photoshop manage color and adobe RGB profile

also i have calibrated my lcd using spyder2express (i'm using macbookpro)

i'm planing to use the printer to get accurate digital proof for my book that i'll publish later next year so it'll be such a waste if i can't work these tool together...>.<

1.anything i should have done or do to fix this?

2.my magenta ink is low after only 3 a4 color print ... too fast?

thanks a lot!

Some Canon models have a jaded feel to their inks. Most of my canon prints come out darker than the HP or the Epson. HP usually has the most vibrant colors while Epson... well, Epson is Epson, you either love it or you hate it.

Adobe RGB is also darker and more muted when translated into print, try sRGB... but NEVER use monitor matching. That's so unpredictable, it makes me cringe....

It's perfectly normal for Canon inks to run out quickly. I change mine almost monthly.

For my near-professional presentations I use an Epson Photo 1390 (A3) upgraded with additional ink tanks (the kind you get with the Ink Man people at Phantip or Seri Center). The blacks aren't as perfect, in fact, a little green. For serious professional work, I still use the pros at the printing center nearby.

I have 4 printers at home, all different brands... 'cuz I'm crazy like that... :o

You need to understand soft proofing and printer calibration

There's a good tutorial on the Luminous Landscape website and lots of other pointers ref printing

Hope you have success
