I posted a few weeks ago about a UK settlement visa for my family. Back then, I thought I would be able to move in with my mother and show her house as a place to stay in the UK, however this is no longer a possibility and I am kind of stuck as there are no other people I know who have room in their houses.

I have been living in Thailand for over a year now continuously and I have no property in the UK. I have savings in the UK and a job offer for when I return.

I have contacted a landlord of a friend in the UK. He says that he has a house that I could start renting, but because I don't know how long the visa application will go on for, I can't give him an exact date of when we will arrive in the UK.

I'm really not sure what my options are here. If I ask him to give me some sort of letter to show the embassy showing that he has property to rent available to me and that he has a reputable company which could be contacted, would this be sufficient?

Any help would be great. Things seem to be falling apart here

The actual requirement of the Immigration Rules states that "there will be adequate accommodation for the parties...". I would interpret this as meaning that you don't necessarily need pre-arranged accommodation if you can otherwise show the visa officer that you will be able to find and pay for a place to stay once you are in the U.K.

Scouse.
