Actually you can get bacon and pork sausages in Kuala Lumpur at least, you just have to go to the Chinese run places. Assuming you can find one that does the full bifta fried breakfast, otherwise buy the ingredients and do it yourself.

Why try to copy a decent bit of grub. but not use the basic root-stock? I assume that Islam is similar to Judaism in this (apart from shellfish) and basically it is not just the pig that is 'tref', but any imitation that seeks to make the consumer think - at whatever level - that he is eating something that is unclean. Thus beef-bacon, chicken-chipolatas and so on are trefah, although the basic meat - if killed correctly - is kosher. I can go on for hours about the old dietary laws and present-day society. but not here.
