Please anybody know what this wording means for the girlfriends UK visit visa on the VAC track your application website.

Your application is ready for collection; please visit the UK Visa Application Centre where you submitted your visa application to collect the same 27 Aug 2008.

Does it mean she has got her visa? Have tried to ring them but all I can get are prerecorded messages on the number given and no chance of speaking to a live person.

It means that her visa application has been considered and that the documents are ready for collection at the visa application centre. She will find out whether it's been either granted or refused upon opening the envelope.

I have just recieved this reply to email I sent them this morning

Today your passport has been returned from British Embassy, if you choose for that delivery option, it would be delivery to the courier centre on the same day. Most probably may be taken 2-3 working days to receive the SEALED envelope, kindly contact to the courier centre for the same enquiry.

Why on earth cant they just say if she has got the visa?

I would think thats the main reason for not telling you on the phone, and any abusive e-mails would probaly be held against you in further appliations.

But 2 days isnt so long to wait, so be patient and look forward to opening the envelope together, if it refused,it will state why, work on this, correct the problem and then they shouldnt refuse,

Ring ring and all you can get is a automated robot at every option you press. You cannot speak to a real live person and it is so frustrating. Would it be to much to ask just to add the words accepted or rejected on the tracking site? The reasons for either then could be discussed later when the papers were collected by the applicant.-

I also understand because it is a only a 6 month visit visa and they do not want her for a interview if they have refused then I have no right of appeal and thats it?

You are right though 2-3 days is not a long time to wait and I will of course let you know the outcome.

Just opened the envelope and inside my ladys passport is a brand new shiny UK visitors visa yipee!!

Actually the only reason the VAC don't tell you on the phone is because they can't; they don't know. Passports etc. are returned to the VAC from the embassy in sealed envelopes as the embassy (quite rightly in my opinion) consider the result and reasons for same to be confidential.
