:D My fiance has just had her visa refused and would like some advise ! we where planning on going back to the UK for 3 weeks to my parents 50th wedding aniversary. They just didn't believe we had been together since dec 06 and that she had not a good reason to come back to thailand ! ( do a bunk ) we intend to apply again.

Can someone tell me if you are allowed to include photo's and family documents as the lady at the VSF with the attitude gave them all back to my fiance and said they was not required ?.

A quick rundown ! we have lived together in thailand now for 1 and a half years and have a new built house which we moved into 3 months ago but nothing in her name. She does not work as i told her to stop as taking care of the house is a full time job and i give her an allowance which half goes to her family. We do not have things like phone records and e-mails as we are together all the time and have been since we met apart from the odd trip back to the UK.

My problem is that we have only pictures and the odd flight stubs for vietnam and phucket etc to show we have been together that length of time .....

Any idea's anyone !!!!!!! :o

You need to write a letter for the visa officer's attention that sets out your relationship in some detail and explains why you don't have letters, e-mails, phone records etc; i.e. because you live together and have done so since December 06.

You must have some corropondence letters from the UK like bank statements, letters from Mum & Dad and family to prove your address, thats what i uesd last year, and the house must be in somebodys name, with plans ect, how about thai bank book, you must have an acc here? get the bank boss to write a letter and get it translated,

As Scouser says, a detailed letter along the lines of why GF doesnt work and that you pay her via cash withrawals on a regular basis shown in bank book will help,

Good Luck,

"she had not a good reason to come back to thailand !" The embassy's normal response for an applicant that isn't working. Good advice from scouse, although I'm not sure how you'd go about proving a long term partnership. Failing that, could your fiance find a job? A letter from her boss stating that her employment is open on her return, would suffice.

Do you have a job/work permit? If you can show that you have to return to work in Thailand there shouldn't be a problem. I'm a teacher in Bangkok and got a visitor's visa for my girlfriend (also for a family wedding). We weren't living together but had been together for a year and a half. She didn't have a job or any savings but the visa was granted without an interview. We did include a lot of photos of us together and with her family in Surin, plus letters and emails from friends and family that referred to our relationship, together with Christmas/birthday/Valentine's cards. Plus I had kept a journal that recorded how we met and how the relationship had developed.

Good luck with your second try. Seems to me that you were very unlucky.

Did you not consider hiring a maid?

Anyway, sorry to hear your news. Better luck with your second attempt.

Supply pictures and fully explain the personal situation you are in . My friend had a similar situation he only had a rental agreement in joint names he supplied pics and was issued a visit visa shortly afterwards.

Is the house in your name or the GF name?

Surely home ownership is a good reason to come back!!!!!

Don't forget your passport stamps will also match for international trips

Good luck

They should have gone in with the application email the entry clearance manager at the Embassy with a covering letter explaining the situation. Also in ref to UK/Vac refusing to allow you to insert evidence ask him to reconsider the application.

Well done and good luck to your family.

They handed it back because they are not qualified, just a postbox, don't listen to them.

Who's name is on the land papers if nothing is in her name ? Which Tambien Baan is she registered on ?

I made a formal complaint to the actual Br Embassy a load of months ago about the terrible automated voice reply. 'Visa' became 'wee-serrrrr'. Undecipherable at best of times and the accent was atrocious!! I can understand 99.99% of Thais, but this was terrible. Maybe it has changed since then?

Roll on the comments!!!

No not this case obviously thats up to the applicant to make any complaints about poor service at UK/Vac.

Yes, but I was referring to your comment, which in context could be viewed that Dhali was under your umbrella and so under your advisement, no criticism intended, just a question, anyone can have a knock-back, for any amount of wrong or poor decisions.

Find out who is the head of the Embassy now.

Call him/her direct and ask for their e-mail. Be the biggest flee in their ear, but also look at it from their side.

They look for reasons not to give the visa. Not a reason to give it.

No Moss sorry about that, but i have now heard of several cases now where UK/Vac are informing people not to include important documents, this could in fact lead to a visa being refused.

Cheers

Yes, the complaints have been around since their inception, there should be some recourse from their governing body, although I am not sure whether that is the B.E or the British Gov't.

Good Luck
