Flash For A Canon Kiss...

Featured Replies

Apologies, I had the information bookmarked... but...

I need to know a decent flash for the Canon Kiss.

Price - US$100 - 200 range.

The one I really want is US$300... but I'm shopping this weekend in BKK and it's a rush job sans pretty budget... so...

Thanks in advance.

Buy the best flash in the Canon range, that you budget will support.

That way you get full compatibility and access to the features of your camera.

Even the older model 430EX is 7,900 Baht, slightly over his maximum budget of US$200. Not sure if they still sell 220EX here anymore but it's really no more than a buil-in, pop-up flash (why buy an external flash that really is no more than a built-in flash can?). Believe Sunpak and others sell Canon's E-TTL2 compatible flash. Not sure where they sell them in Bangkok or for how much.

Thanks for your suggestions... I just got back from Central. No luck. I took my Canon to try out the lowest flash available - 9000+ baht (my present budget would stretch that far). I then compared it with the flash on the camera. There just isn't enough difference between the two, so I'll rather wait until I have 23,000 baht to lay on the table.

Despite its small size the internal Canon flash does pack quite a punch. :o

Yeah, it punches that lovely dark shadow right behind heads ;-)

Btw - I'm totally open for tips on getting rid of the problem for the short-term...

Find a translucent 35mm film can and make a slit big enough to cover the flash head.

Add paper and you have an instant flash diffuser.

Nice, thanks! I'll try it out this week.
