Hi, I'm new to this board, but I'm a holder of Icelandic passport and the new Thai Visa rules are rather surprising.

Thing is that Iceland has not been included on the list of countries that get 30 day arrival stamp without a visa, it dropped out of the list and is (according the Icelandic department of state) the only European country that now requires Visa to Thailand.

So, if there are any Icelanders on their ways to the sun, get your VISA at the consular before coming =)

Translation of the Press release from the Icelandic Department of State:

"Thai authorities have announced that there are new regulations regarding VISA requirements, that involve that Icelandic citizens now need a Visa prior to traveling to Thailand.

The enforcement of these rules have been delayed what Icelandic citizens are concerned to 29th January 2003, after the Icelandic authorities requested that Icelandic citizens would be exempt from these new rules for travels less than 30 days, like for other countries in Northern Europe and in the Schengen-states.

However now it’s clear that Thai Immigration is not aware of this agreement between the Icelandic and Thai authorities, therefore the Department of State recommends that all Icelandic citizens traveling to Thailand get a VISA at the Thai consultant prior to traveling to Thailand.

Visas are issued at Thai Consultant, Hæðabyggð 26, Garðabæ, Tel +354-565-7121"

Ice.
